Weight Gain Foods

Weight gain foods need to be eaten in bigger portions, and consumed a certain number of times in a day. Our metabolism plays a very big role in how each of our systems function. When skinny people eat a lot, but still don't put on weight, this is because their metabolism rate is very high. To know what is metabolism, you'd have to first understand that each one's metabolism rate fluctuates depending on how we eat, and the activities we put ourselves through. If people are constantly snacking throughout the day, and making it a point to stay active, then metabolism rates are significantly high. The body has to keep itself on constant overdrive to burn food, since it is entering the system repeatedly. For those of who with skinny builds wanting to put on weight, this write up will help you figure out a way to pile on the calories, with some good weight gain tips.

Weight Gain Foods List

Here's a compilation of weight gain foods for women, in order to pack on those extra pounds.
  • White Bread: White bread is a fattening food, simply because it is rich in white flour/dough. Make it a habit to eat a lot of white bread during the day, as part of your breakfast routine.
  • Eggs: Eggs are a good source of fat, especially the yolks, since that is where the fat concentration is. Eat eggs twice a day every other day. They're rich in cholesterol, so adults will have to go easy on them.
  • Milk/Cream: Whole cream milk can be added to a bowl of cereal (not low fat), or your coffee/tea. You get full cream tin cans/packets, that can be added in during cooking. It's used to thicken gravies; try using this the next time you cook.
  • Rice: Have a good helping of rice in the afternoons for lunch; because of its starchiness, it aids in weight gain.
  • Cheese: For those lucky skinny people who can cheese binge, then this is your chance to put on some weight. Make it habitual to eat cream cheese. Blue cheese has a lot of salt content, so plop these into salads.
  • Weight Gain Supplements/Weight Gain Shakes: Weight gain supplements and even weight gain shakes are a sure way to get those calories multiplying, being high in sugar, cream and milk content.
When you eat all these weight gain foods, make sure that you make your breakfast/lunch, big meals. Then in the evenings, eat something more low key like saltines and a cheese dip. Try to eat slightly bigger meals everyday, so that your stomach starts getting used to the big portions it's receiving. When you hit that weight gain diet mark that you were hoping to achieve, cut down slowly on these items, but not abruptly. Keep a tab on your waist line measurements and of course how much you weigh. You may have worried about your kids' skinny bodies, wondering what you're doing wrong. You aren't, but like any health conscious parent - you feed him healthy food/junk food in 'small amounts'. A child's body can easily burn/add on calories. Their metabolic rate is high, making them burn calories faster than adults. Maybe you've been feeding your kid a lot, but still see him/her look so thin. Either way, here are foods that you can make/give your child to help them gain some weight.
  • Pasta with Cheese
  • Dried Fruits (dried bananas and raisins)
  • Nuts (pistachios, cashews, almonds and peanuts)
  • Yams and Sweet Potatoes (you can make mashed potatoes, with butter and cheese)
  • Drinking a lot of Vegetable and Fruit Juices
  • Bacon and Eggs
  • Pancakes with Chocolate/Maple Syrup
  • Donut Rings with Cheese/Butter
  • Beef Burgers
  • Peanut Butter with Jelly Sandwiches

You don't want your child to put on too much of weight. I hope these weight gain foods help you to put on some considerable weight. Just make sure you stay off of them, once you achieve your targeted weight gain. Good luck!
